About Us

The best place to train BJJ in Todos Santos
Jiu Jitsu is like science. It doesn’t matter if you believe in it or not.

Train with everyone, everywhere
We don’t believe in the idea of Creontes. Anybody who trains Jiu Jitsu, and some who don’t, are potential practice dummies and rolling partners.
We welcome members from other gyms, newbies just wanting to try it, visitors. We visit other gyms, train with other coaches, watch videos of flying armbars.
We don’t have uniform standards, as long as they’re clean and not dangerously ripped.

The mats are like a lab, where we blow things up
When it comes to Jiu Jitsu training, failure isn’t an option. It’s mandatory. Sucking at something is the first step to not sucking at something.
Jiu Jitsu isn’t magically better than other martial arts just because someone came up with a great idea and it just worked out. It’s one of the best because of the way we train it.
We constantly learn new things, test them out, they fail, rinse, repeat.

Jiu Jitsu isn't for everyone. It is for every body.
They say that Jiu Jitsu is for everyone, but it’s not. Are you a germaphobe? Hate hugging? Need a lot of personal space? Probably not for you. Don’t believe in violence? Yeah, violence doesn’t care if you believe in it or not.
However, you can have any body…type, and there’s a style of Jiu Jitsu for you. Tall and lanky, yeah. Short, stocky, bald? That’s me. Small? Weak? Strong? Big? Because Jiu Jitsu is rooted in live practice, not theory and kicking the air, you can adapt the fundamentals into something that is all your own.

Only one of us should be comfortable
Jiu Jitsu is a martial art, a combat sport, and as such, we must learn the difference between being hurt and being injured.
It’s not that it’s not safe, it is, but to train Jiu Jitsu is to redefine your idea of discomfort. You can learn how to lay on someone in a way that makes them think you’re cheating at gravity. You can also learn how to accept someone doing it to you. It’s really one of the best lessons you learn, what can you endure, how to use your brain while under duress, how to tap out.

Jiu Jitsu is called Arte Suave, the gentle art. Anybody who has experienced a heavy cross-face knows that this is some kind of sarcastic joke.
